Hundreds of passed finalists gathered in London’s West End for what has become a landmark event in the calendar of every passed finalist
The fifth PASS@paper passed finalists’ party got underway to great fanfare last week as hundreds of finalists began queuing early.
Hosted once again at the exclusive paper club in Piccadilly, finalists kick-started their night in the West End celebrating their success with free champagne, cocktails and canapés.
Finalists took the opportunity to meet up with mates and rejoice at not having to sit any more exams. If they had enough of the free drinks there was a whole array of entertainment to distract them. Entertainment activities laid on by the event's recruitment consultancy sponsors included roulette, blackjack, Nintendo’s Wii and of course the very popular vodka luge.
Despite the financial turmoil and economic uncertainty, the atmosphere was buzzing and the celebratory mood extended through the night as our accountants took to the gambling tables and vodka luge with abandonment.
Nick Burton of BDO who had come along with friends said he was celebrating the end of exams. ‘Exams were tough and I’m not doing any more!’
Reflecting on the night, the editor said: ‘It’s been a fantastic night. There’s been a brilliant turnout, great atmosphere, a great mix of casual and relaxed.
‘Everyone’s quite keen to come along and chat casually with consultants to find out what to do in these uncertain times and luckily we have a lot of top class expertise on hand to help them.’
There was no rest for our girls manning the iPod giveaway bonanza as the queues were consistently long the whole night through as finalists lined up to get one of the hundreds of iPod shuffles PASS gave away to all passed finalists. It was so busy we ran out of iPods, but don’t worry guys there’s one winging its way to you now if you didn’t manage to get one on the night.
The roulette and blackjack tables teemed with readers hoping their luck would win out and they would walk away with prizes, adding to the excitement of the night.
People jostled to play tennis, golf and bowling on the Nintendo Wii, clearly demonstrating that accountants are hardly shy and retiring!
PASS Editor Alex Miller said ‘Once again it has been a massive success. Thanks to all of the passed finalists who turned up to celebrate. I’m just glad we’re able to support them and make this a night to remember.’
Excitement grew as the clock struck nine and editor Alex Miller stepped up to announce the cash prize winners.
